THE APPLE PIE MISSION & PHILOSPHY

Our Mission
To provide the highest level of quality Christian childcare services to children through educational teaching methods that include morals and values training. The mission of APCA is to make a positive educational impact on children by helping them grow and learn in a safe and rich Christian environment. And to provide parents with comfort and confidence in the center they chose for their child’s early childhood learning experience.
APCA PHILOSOPHY
Our Standard of Excellence is influenced by Christian values and beliefs. We believe every child has the right to develop to his/her fullest potential. We strive to provide an environment that fosters every area of a child’s total development. Each child will learn to be polite, honest, self-confident, sensitive, creative and independent. Our program is designed to meet these goals by encouraging spiritual, mental and physical growth. We provide a relaxed atmosphere that invites each child to explore, discover and become aware of educational knowledge and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Play enables a child to test his/her ideas about the real world. Play is the surest, quickest path to learning and building self-confidence. Play generates an understanding of cooperation and independence. By planting ideas, our teachers foster curiosity and encourage children to ask questions. They provide a safe, comfortable, yet stimulating environment for children.
Every child is valued for his/her individuality and uniqueness. We encourage friendly discussions and communication between children during play and promote respectful attitudes for the rights of each other. Each child develops at his/her own pace. We create and provide experiences that meet the needs of individual children. Growth and development are gradual processes that involve all facets of a child’s world. Therefore, we encourage and provide opportunities that include family, community and school.

The creative play philosophy is based on the premise that the more a child’s emotions are involved, the more sensory information is received, and the more easily learning takes place. Our environment is child-centered, and we base our curriculum on the most appropriate learning medium for children… play.

Play, with its power to nurture and to teach, begins at birth in the first interactions between mother and child. Play contributes to all types of learning: cognitive, social, physical and emotional. Learning takes place because children are involved in a self-motivated, action-oriented process. Play provides children with the opportunity to actively explore, manipulate and interact with their environment.
Our environment utilizes the following Learning Centers to invoke play:
Writing
Math & Numbers
Arts and Crafts
Music
Dramatic Play
Manipulative
Sand & Water
Computer & Technology
Science & Nature
Blocks, Puzzles, Legos
Gross Motor

Sometimes the teacher both anticipates and initiates play. At times a child’s play is spontaneous; there is no pre-structuring or environmental preparation. As long as the child’s behavior is not undesirable, he/she should be allowed the freedom to pursue such play. Freedom, choice and independence are an integral part in a child care program. In addition, safety and courtesy considerations are also essential. We feel everyone has an opinion in what he/she does and how he/she is treated; the sense of courtesy, safety and fair play prevails.
